Carbonize price update

June 2019

Like Denied and Relax in the previous update, Carbonize will be a paid-upfront app from now on. My top priority is making sure my business becomes sustainable (again). A constant revenue stream means I get to work on updates and release new apps. Denied and Relax seem to do a little better right now, adding Carbonize to the list feels obvious.

To smooth over the transition you can get Carbonize at a 50% discount until June 8th.

I’m not there yet though, so I’m leaving the option to donate intact. If you got Carbonize before the price update, maybe have an extra look at the Tip Jar. It’s much appreciated. 🙂

Adjusting prices

April 2019

The last time I posted about Denied, I introduced the Tip Jar and announced the app would become Free. My goal was to try and see if I could reach more people by lowering the bar of entry and in turn increase revenue by convincing a significant amount of those people to voluntarily pay through the Tip Jar.

We’re about six months into the experiment and unfortunately this hasn’t happened.

It has warmed my heart that a number of people did actually purchase one of the ‘love jars’ without getting anything substantial in return. Thanks so much if you did this. It has lead me to not remove the Tip Jar entirely, but rather iterate on it. More on that below.

The fact remains however that revenue decreased. This means I need to try something different to reach my goal of achieving a sustainable income from my apps.

In the coming week I’ll change Denied and Relax (back) from Free to Paid Upfront apps, leaving the Tip Jars intact. I’ve also released updates for all my apps to include a new, more personal tipping screen that will hopefully give you a better picture of who you’re supporting by donating. 😊

If you got the app before the price change, everything will remain the same. I hope this does motivate you to have another look at the Tip Jar and help me, help you get some great updates and new apps. 💪

A new toolbar appears in Carbonize v1.2

March 2019

In the latest update Carbonize gets a pretty significant graphical overhaul. With the new toolbar comes a dedicated Export button that allows you to choose between exporting through the Floating Windows you’re familiar with, or a standard Save Panel.

I’ve also added a Share button that allows you to quickly import the images in apps that you use often.

Finally, there’s a new Release Notes window that will update you on all the changes that were made. It’s shown the first time you launch an update.

You can get the update from the Mac App Store.
